Overview
Ipamorelin is a pentapeptide growth-hormone secretagogue. It was tested by Helsinn for post-operative ileus but did not outperform placebo in phase 2. Selectivity for GH release has been shown in animals and early human pharmacology.
Mechanism of action
Agonist at the GHS-R1a (ghrelin) receptor, triggering pituitary GH pulses.
